3. La Maison de Mae - Mae Buday
On the shore of Big Shell Lake in my studio, I work with fabric, thread and paint. Fabrics have come from as far away as New Zealand and Taiwan. In the cloth pieces, I use photos more often than ready-made patterns.
In the jewelry, pebbles and seashells find their way into many of my pieces, along with semi-precious stones, wired with silver and copper. Pebbles are found along Lake Superior and Haidi Gwaii.
My inspiration is augmented by the loons, geese and otters, just to name a few, and anyone else who stops by.
-- In search of Self by Corla McGillivray – Original art and related print products.
Corla’s art developed from the personal need for self-expression and inner meditative healing. She has used a process of creating beautiful expressive backgrounds and working into them with ink to unveil a form of personal communication and imagery in her own art making. Bold and colourful , they transform a space through intricate suggestion of form and can be hung any direction that the owner desires.
Corla has also developed a similar process called Reverse Colouring Book © which puts the PLAY back into making art in a joyful and meditative way. With the background already created, Corla invites you to pick up a pen and let your sub-conscious self come forth to communicate through your own language of the soul.
